Looks like #Haikusday has eluded me once again. Never ye worry, I'll be back next Tuesday with another seventeen syllables of genius. In the meantime, leave your haiku gems in the comments.
Thanksgiving is around the corner and food is on my mind...more than usual. If you do not or have not lived in the U.S.A., Thanksgiving is a slightly controversial holiday when the people inhabiting this country toss aside their differences and their diets to celebrate how thankful we are for everything, mostly manifest destiny. I kid, I kid.
The very next day, we celebrate Black Friday by waking up unreasonably early and turning out in droves to throw our money at apathetic retailers. There is also a fair amount of quarreling with fellow for snatching the last half-priced off-brand electronics.
Thanksgiving also leads to many New Year's resolutions; diet related, of course. But seriously, this is a great time of year; the weather is nice, the memories are fond and the food rarely disappoints. So, here is my haiku for you:

I love Just Dance as much as the next person, if the next person has also sustained a minor foot injury due to enthusiastically crushing their previous high score. Don't judge me.

The fall season typically bestows on us a long awaited reprieve from the merciless summer heat. And as if this season delights in our continued suffering, it dramatically brings forth cooler weather via allergen-rich frontal systems with periodic bands of ice-cold rain. Some people navigate the weather with apathy and grace, while others are emo and write poems about it. The following haiku explore how two very different people, make their respective ways into a store during an episode of unforgiving weather.

Substance abuse is generally frowned upon, except when that substance is coffee. In which case, you may try to wrest the leaden vessel filled with that lifeblood from my hands, but YOU. WILL. FAIL.

Haikusday is a name that I affectionately borrowed from the interwebs for my own purposes, one of which is to propagate haiku on Tuesdays. God willing the bots have advanced enough to share these posts on my behalf with the masses on social media. Come back soon. And don't forget to Make Poetry Fun Again. #MPFA
P.S. Don't flame me for my use of "every". It can be pronounced with one or two syllables, as needed. Fight me.
An ancient proverb once said "Respect and revere your elders, lest they elbow you in the ribs to cut in line." Just kidding, I made that up. But seriously, don't get between a older person and their five dollar footlong sandwich at lunch hour. The 'bows will be thrown.

Don't let the title fool you, I'm not getting emo on you, yet. Sometimes the phone's silence is haunting and reminds me that no one wants to call or text me. I wonder if they're intimidated by my superior wit or perhaps they think I'm a pain in the ass. Who will ever know?
The good news is, shopping with a 30% off coupon can help smother a lot of feels. #haikusday #MPFA
If you're long in the tooth, that means you're wise. If you're short in the tooth, then your pulp is showing, and, well, that's just painful.
Carry on, and proceed with caution when eating jelly. Also, let someone know I'm #MPFA Making Poetry Fun Again. It was never fun you say? Well, it is now. Add #haikusday and a link while your at it. You won't regret it. Nevermind, you might.
