Standing outside, just after midnight in the still winter night, the skies lit up with a collective exhale manifested in the greatest show of individual fireworks I've ever witnessed. It felt like everyone was equally tired, but simultaneously hopeful; joyous at the very prospect of something better to come. Photo by Laziii Codar from Pexels. Someone once told me that my poetry wasn't legitimate because it is "funny" and not about anything important. This poem is dedicated to that special someone who shook my faith in myself but didn't succeed in stopping me from accosting the internets with words I think sound good together. Cheers! #kayenjee #MPFA #makepoetryfunagain
Here we are, back again for #Sadderday where we reserve the last Saturday of the month indulge our dark thoughts. #kayenjee #Sadderday
Let's take it back to 2016 with this gem from Jon Bellion. "Fashion" the 5th track on the album The Human Condition grapples with glorifying material things, our motivation to pursue riches, and the result of such pursuits. It's also easy on the ears for those who aren't into all those words people use in songs. Today's poem was directly inspired by this song (linked below). Consume them in the order of your choosing. #PoemsAboutSongs #kayenjee #MPFA #makepoetryfunagain #Jon Bellion **WARNING** Contains profanity. See there's even that little "Parental Advisory" thingy in the corner.
In this episode, we are exploring a song that isn't by Twenty One Pilots, but it isn't altogether unrelated, either. Ohio natives Walk the Moon were on their come up around the same time as TOP; they even watched each other's shows before either were famous. As a nod to their bop-ability, here is a semi-derivative work inspired by their song, "One Foot". And as is customary, check out the music video below. #PoemsAboutSongs #MPFA #makepoetryfunagain #walkthemoon
Episode #13: Inspired by "Legend" (Track 13 from Trench) In this last installment of Poems About Songs about Trench, we're covering a song about follow through; about executing a task that you have trained extensively to do, but struggle to complete. Making this track exercised the songwriter's composition muscle in spite of his instinct to scrap the beat initially. The lyrics embody the struggle of doing something creative on demand and perhaps on a deadline, even if the creator doesn't feel inspired at the time. Listen to the original song below. #MPFA #makepoetryfunagain #poemsaboutsongs #welcometotrench |
